Take your dog out for a walk:- It is a very important consideration. You need to understand that your dog has the same needs as yourself. Taking them out on regular walks is an extremely good example of exercise. In addition of healthy diet, it is important that you make them expose to some kind of physical activity for exercise. Basically exercise will keep the dogs healthy. It will make them fit. Also, it will provide them a good mental and physical stimulation.

This makes the walks interesting. 

• The length and duration of the walk will be based on the age and breed of your dog: if you have a small dog consider a shorter walk (may be 15 minutes at maximum). If you have a larger breed and considerably more athletic dog, you may require significantly longer hour of exercise.
• Brachycephalic dogs, basically dogs with pushed-in noses such as bulldogs tend to do best with short walks, may be around 10-15 minutes.

It is important that you make your dog learn the basic and rudimental commands. It is important that you train them for that. These commands will help them through a lot of obstacles and can help prevent accidents. They can also help you deal with the erratic behaviour of your dog rather easily. Some commands are fairly easy to teach such as the command to ‘sit’ and ‘come’, but there are some which are fairly tough and can take considerable amount of time. Some of the commands are the command to ‘down’, and the command to ‘stay’. There is this other command ‘leave it’ which we shall be talking about in this blog.

The command of ‘leave it is a fairly hard but very important and necessary command for your dog to learn. It can help you deal with many unwanted situations.

It will help the dog stay away from danger and from putting unwanted things in the mouth when its curiosity gets the better of him. There are often times when the dog smells something great lying on the ground which can be dangerous for the dog. The curiosity of the dog can get the better of him. The idea is to make him learn that if he leaves it, then he gets something even better.

Start by placing two treats in your hands. Put forth one enclosed fist with the food and make it smell it and immediately after that ask him to leave it. he is mostly likely to bark, whine and sniff and lick the treat ignore it. once he stops trying give him the food in the other hand.
